# Account profile

The account profile describes your organisation: how you work, the kind of work
you do, and who your customers are. It is a set of questions you answer once and
revisit as things change.

It is worth filling in properly, because it does two jobs.

## Context for answers

Your [sources](/sources/what-are-sources/) describe your policies, but not the
shape of your business. The profile supplies that — so answers are framed for an
organisation like yours rather than in the abstract.

## Deciding what applies

ResponseHub uses the profile to judge whether a question is
[applicable](/questionnaires/questionnaire-items/) to an organisation like yours.
Questionnaires are written to cover many kinds of vendor, so a good proportion of
any given one won't apply to you.

That assessment is only as good as the profile behind it. A thin profile means
more questions marked **Not Checked** or wrongly marked applicable, and more work
for you.

**Revisit it as you grow:** The profile describes your organisation at a point in time. New certifications, a
change in the customers you sell to, or a shift in how you host your product all
change which questions apply — so it is worth a look whenever something
significant changes.
